Why I threw away all the magnets and no longer put them on the fridge

Bringing home beautiful refrigerator magnets has long been a tradition. Today, there is hardly a house where the kitchen does not decorate at least a couple of these souvenirs.

At the same time, there is always a guest who will reproach the hosts with the appearance of an expert. You can’t put magnets on the refrigerator. It is a hidden source of evil.

Do these claims contain some truth, or do we have another superstition? We'll work it out together.

Meticulous engineers have found that powerful neodymium magnets can disable electrical appliances. Suppose that Turkish artisans for some reason use such magnets for their souvenirs.

Then, in theory, they could actually be a potential cause of breakdown. Especially in modern models with electric panels on the doors. But it's in theory. And in practice, a magnet weighing several grams can not harm a two-meter appliance.

The only exception is the painted surface of the door. So that there are no traces and light spots on it, magnets must be periodically removed and changed their location.

Unexplained phenomena always scare us more than others. Few things fit this definition better than invisible and intangible electromagnetic radiation.

So tenacious conspiracy theories that creating a magnetic field, souvenir magnets allegedly poison food stored in the refrigerator.

First, the magnetic field emanating from them is too small and weak to do any harm. And can cause concern only in people who have sewn pacemakers.

Secondly, the same electric stoves, washing machines and TVs placed in the kitchen, not to mention mobile communications and microwave ovens, are the source of hundreds of times more powerful magnetic waves. So, magnets on the refrigerator should be feared in the last place.

What do feng shui experts say? Fans of feng shui claim that the refrigerator can hang only magnets with images on a culinary theme: fruits, vegetables, various foods.

Landscapes, buildings, figures of people and various characters can concentrate the flow of negative energy and adversely affect the energy in the house. Negative effect on feng shui also have colorful magnets of different shapes and sizes, placed in a chaotic order.

It's hard to say how true this is. But memories associated with magnets on the refrigerator, in any case, can bring us a lot of real positive emotions. And everyone is free to use these pieces of the past as they see fit.
