Dynamic series, which are not sorry to spend a few days of life

The anthology series differs from others in that the series or seasons in it are not connected by a common plot and characters. On the one hand, it doesn't keep us so stressed from series to series. On the other hand, it allows you to highlight a wide range of topics selected by genre or atmosphere.

A separate advantage is that before watching, for example, the 4th season of Fargo, it is not necessary to look for the previous three. Each story is good in itself, regardless of whether you have already seen other seasons or not.

Anthology series "Fargo" (2014 - present) Initially, the television anthology in the genre of black tragicomedy was announced as a remake of the Coen brothers' film of the same name, released in 1996. But in fact, the main thing he got from the Coen brothers was the atmosphere.

It consists of a signature mixture of black humor, ridiculous accidents, stupidity, cruelty, confusion and a sense of unreality from everything that is happening. At the same time, to the credit of the directors of the show, from season to season it becomes witty, deeper and more inventive.

"Black Mirror" (2011 - present) British television series "Black Mirror" called either science fiction, who satirical. But I would call it an encyclopedia of dire predictions.

The creators of the series show us the dark side of modern technology. And their most daring predictions come true with frightening frequency.

American Crime Story (2016–present) Each season is filmed in the genre of crime drama and tells about a high-profile crime that left a noticeable mark in the history of the United States.

These are the twists and turns of the sensational “The Simpson Case”, and the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, and the scandal with Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky.

"True Detective" (2014-present) Another criminal anthology. This time from HBO, whose series almost always become bestsellers. “True Detective” was no exception, having collected rave reviews of the audience and a rich harvest of various prizes.

The stories of all three seasons are unrelated to each other, but they share mysterious murders, a dark atmosphere and excellent ratings (9.0 on IMDb).

Special mention deserves detective partners from the first season, which brilliantly played Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Their dialogues, filled with black humor, sometimes firmly cling to the lively and widely dispersed into quotes.

Stories from the Loop (2020) The Loop was deep underground. It was a huge circular particle accelerator and a research institute of experimental physics. So begins the fantastic artbook Tales from the Loop by Swedish artist and illustrator Simon Stålenhag.

A new series from Amazon tells about people who live near the Loop. After its construction, the district was flooded with strange buildings, outlandish mechanisms and even dinosaurs. And this could not but affect the inhabitants of the town, each of which now has its own history and its own secret.

"Romanovs" (2018 - present) The anthology series combines eight independent episodes with stories of people from around the world who are or consider themselves descendants of the Russian royal family, the Romanovs. The genres of novels vary from romantic comedy to psychedelics and drama. And simple stories lead the viewer to difficult questions.

American Horror Story (2011–present) One of the most famous anthology series, in which the whole plot is preserved for one season.

It mixes mysticism, horror and drama. Each series brings something new. Already known facts overgrown with new details. Everything opens up in a different light. And most importantly, looking at places is really scary.

"Souls of Kindred" (2020-present) The plot of the series sounds like another episode from Black Mirror. In the near future, the latest technology will allow every person on the planet to find the perfect pair.

But will there be room for feelings and romance in such a world? Or will the logic of complex machines completely replace them? The heroes of the series are trying to find their answers to these questions.

“Electric Dreams of Philip K. Dick” (2017 – present) British science fiction television anthology is based on the stories of Philip Dick – one of the brightest science fiction writers of the XX century. It turned out a small but very interesting selection of TV series to pass the long winter evenings. My choice is “Stories from the Loop”, and you have already picked up what you will watch?
