Chinese-American startup Lucid Motors has officially unveiled the prototype of its first model, the 1000-strong premium electric car Air. Start of serial production of new items designed to compete with the Tesla Model S, scheduled for 2018.

The model has a set of "training for unmanned driving", which includes short-range radar, video cameras and optical rangefinder LIDAR. It is not yet clear when customers will be offered the automatic control system and whether it will be available at all.



For the production of the electric vehicle firm Lucid Motors intends in 2017 to build its own plant in Arizona, which will invest about $ 700 million. In 2018 it is expected to produce 250 cars, and then to increase production.
