London bridges will acquire led lighting
The designer is Leo Villareal has won a tender for the installation of lighting bridges along the river Thames in London. His project was recognized as the best, and now disigners with his team decorate 17 from tower bridge to albert bridge.
"The river" is a public art project which was launched earlier this year. It has a budget of £ 10 million or $ 12.4 million, all the money is collected through donations from individuals and charitable organizations.
"Now we plan to explore the river in all its manifestations," explains Villarreal in a press release: "in addition, we want to listen to suggestions from Londoners on our project. Our goal is to create such lighting, which will reduce environmental pollution and energy loss, and will be thin to consider all the architectural features of the city."
Of the 17 bridges to be decorated with new lighting, four projects were presented in the competition program.
London bridge will be equipped with 498 led lights in warm colours, which will change over time. On Waterloo bridge 640 LEDs will be used to create a wash of light at the bottom. Here the main used colors: pink and red. Westminster bridge 406 will be equipped with LEDs, which will be ordered to change color depending on the tidal cycle.
The main colors of the lights will be purple and blue shades. Chelsea bridge will be bathed in warm white colours that will randomly change. Like other bridges, it will be illuminated from below, but in addition 3,016 led nodes will be installed along the cables that make up the structure of the suspension bridge.

Villarreal intend to use led lights as they can reduce by 50 percent the amount of energy used for lighting bridges. The proposed level of luminescence for each bridge, meanwhile, allows you to highlight and emphasize the beauty of the architecture without being overly bright.
105 teams from 20 countries submitted their projects to the contest, and in November 10,000 people visited the exhibition of the main contenders for victory, selected by the jury of the competition. The team of Villarreal will develop its concept over the next year, which will start its implementation. published
