Maserati will release a sports car Alfieri

Manufacturer of luxury sports cars Maserati has confirmed its plans to produce electric car by 2020. The first information about this appeared in September, and now the Italian brand announced that the first electric power installation will get double sports car Alfieri.
First, Maserati will launch a series of Alfieri with the engine – it will happen a year earlier. And unlike the concept, which debuted in the spring of 2014, and equipped with a 4.7-liter V8, the commodity, the machine will set the twin-turbo V6. This is due to increasingly stringent regulations on emissions. Apparently, the Alfieri will be the first model of the brand that will be created on a new architecture that allows to use both internal combustion engine and the electric motors.
Alfieri will be built on the platform that formed the basis for the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte. The standard version of the car will be powered by a 3.0-liter V6 engine with a turbocharger. The power of the motor will make more than 500 horsepower.
The Maserati Alfieri concept was first presented at the Geneva motor show this year. The car was created in honor of the centenary of the company and was named one of the founders of Maserati – Alfieri Maserati. The car was built on a shortened version of the platform GranTurismo MC Stradale.
Last month, Director of engineering at the Maserati of Roberto Fedeli told reporters that the head of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Sergio Marchionne wants to get a electric car as soon as possible, however, developers are faced with a very difficult task: to create a unique product, which will continue the spirit of the Italian brand, and this is problematic because cars that run on electricity can not boast of a signature sound of the V6 and V8.
In addition to launching the Alfieri, Maserati is currently working on the successor of the GranTurismo and GranCabrio. It is expected that new model will get the same rear drive platform that is used in the Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte. Although the machine will keep the landing formula 2+2, they will become more compact. Again, for reasons of sustainability of the current V8 will be replaced by V6. published
