It turns out that eating ice cream for breakfast makes us smarter.

This year, scientists have finally justified everyone’s favorite “harmful” products, such as chocolate, cheese and spaghetti, what’s more Website I'm delighted.

And here's another good news, this time from Japanese researchers: it turns out, eating ice cream for breakfast can improve brain function.

To conduct this curious study, Professor Yoshihiko Koga of Tokyo’s Kerin University and colleagues recruited two groups of volunteers. People in the first group were asked to eat ice cream, while the morning diet of the second group remained unchanged.

After breakfast, all volunteers underwent computer tests for intelligence and reaction speed. The results showed that people who ate ice cream for breakfast were better at absorbing new information, acting faster and being more focused than those who ate as usual.

After studying the electrical activity of the brains of the subjects, Professor Koga found that ice cream eaters differed from all others by increased activity of high-amplitude alpha waves. It is believed that this type of waves reduces the degree of irritability of a person and at the same time makes him attentive and focused.

Then scientists suggested that it is not in the ice cream itself, but in its temperature, which could in some way “shock” the brain and make it work in a special, more efficient mode. To test this assumption, another group was recruited. This time, people were asked to drink a glass of cold water immediately after waking up, and then they were given the same tests as other volunteers.

However, the assumption of the influence of low temperature on brain activity was not fully confirmed. People who started their day with a glass of cold water did well, but did not perform as well as those who ate ice cream.

Professor Koga plans to continue his research to identify the components of frozen dessert that most effectively stimulate the brain to create the “perfect breakfast ice cream.”
