Rope ROPE pavilion Pavilion from KNE Studio
The natural path for skating on the Assiniboine river in Winnipeg (Canada) needed a building, where sports fans will be able to hide from the cold. This inspired the new York company KNE Studio to create a ROPE Pavilion — Rope pavilion.
This pavilion was awarded first prize in the 2012 Warming Huts competition art and architecture, where designers offer creative options for upgrading of shelters, which are located every kilometer along the Assiniboine river that skaters can warm up from extreme cold. At the competition there were presented the projects developed by such world renowned architects as Frank Gehry, Patricia PATCO and Antoine Predock.
Rope pavilion lives up to its name: it is made from Manila rope and a birch wood frame. The design is very simple, elegant and environmentally friendly. The birch frame is notched to hold the turns of the rope in place. Inside the shelter are the stools made from large bundles of ropes. This vacation spot around the perimeter of the protected from the wind.
The dense weave of the rope perfectly protected from winter winds, POS-Valea while daylight to penetrate into the pavilion. This choice of materials also adds visual warmth to a shelter in cold climate. Fancy form design — the result of the optimization of the detention of a high temperature. The only holes in the netting is the entrance and window, which is necessary for lighting.
