Book pyramid. Unusual library from MVRDV
The library of Alexandria, in contrast to the Lighthouse or the pyramids of Egypt, were not included in the List of wonders of the ancient world. But the library Book Mountain + Library Quarter from the Studio MVRDV could claim the title of modern architectural gem. Moreover, it has a lot in common the above-mentioned objects. For example, a repository of books has the shape of a pyramid!

Book Mountain + Library Quarter is a complex of library buildings located on the Market Square of Spijkenisse. But its main element is, of course, a glass pyramid, inside which there is situated a book! The total area of the building is 9,300 square metres. In this space there is a huge bookcase, created by the ledges. So from the side it resembles a stepped pyramid.
Moreover, on the ledges that you can walk, continuous 470-metre track runs along all the book racks and ends on the roof rack. There is a small café where you can sit with the found volume, read it, sipping coffee, tea or juice.
