Guardian – laser lights for safe crossing of streets

A community of fiction writers and their fans in the 50-70-ies of the twentieth century dreamed of that will soon appear menacing and powerful laser weapons, which can even move mountains, even planets to destroy. The subsequent development of technologies have shown that is virtually impossible. But it is really to use lasers in a much more constructive purposes. For example, to allocate their aid pedestrian crossings on the roads.

Modern road infrastructure every day makes more innovative steps forward. And traffic lights have become not just traffic lights, and multifunction devices. And pedestrian crossings in this limit not only Zebra, and the consciousness of motorists, but also laser beams. Here is the concept of transition, limited by the laser, and invited South Korean designer HOJOON Lim. His concept, called a Guardian (Protector), a very simple, but elegant and very real. HOJOON Lim proposes to install pedestrian crossings on four pillars, two of which can generate laser light in two directions.

At the moment when the traffic light will glow red light for motorists, these rays will visually limit area of the crosswalk from the road. When red lights for pedestrians, the lasers will switch to the side of the sidewalk. This system is very intuitive and easy to create, and its implementation will cost mere pennies, because of home lasers have long ceased to be technologies of the future.
