Helsinki 2012 year named the world design capital. In honor of this, the city has a host of objects designed to confirm the validity of the assignment referred to honorary titles. For example, in the Finnish capital appeared object Silo 468, representing the old storage facility, transformed into something functionally resembling a lighthouse.
Bunker oil storage was built at the cargo port in the area of Kruunuvuorenranta in Helsinki a few decades ago. However, in recent years he has not used for its intended purpose, that stood empty and abandoned, rusting. Was this a destructive process as long as the city authorities decided to give it at the mercy of the artists from the Madrid Studio Lighting Design Collective. So they turned the old tower into a modern art object.
They created it over a thousand holes (and most of them even drilling didn't have the artists used holes formed by rust), and in each inserted a led light bulb. All of these lighting elements were connected to a single computer control system.
Moreover, color changes and light intensity in the object Silo 468 is dependent on external natural conditions – wind, noise of waves, the flying birds, the presence of rain or snow.
The residents of the coastal part of Helsinki can enjoy this chic light show immediately after dark and up to 2.05 nights. In addition, everyone can go directly to the Silo 468 and even go inside this art-lighthouse.
