Frozen waterfall Minnehaha

Minnehaha Park is on the banks of the Mississippi river; the falls, however, formed not by the river – it is part of the current flowing into the Mississippi to Minnehaha Creek, although the river is relatively close. The waterfall is about 53 feet (16 meters).









Winter Minnehaha falls can completely freeze, becoming ice in a fascinating tale.

Minnehaha falls is one of the jewels wildlife Park, located near Minneapolis.

Many believe that the name Minnehaha means "laughing water." In fact, the name of the waterfall consists of several words of the language of the tribe of the Dakota.





The word "haha" in the Dakota language means "waterfall" and "Minna — water". Thus, a full and literal translation of the name of the Minnehaha waterfall – Water falling waterfall. Still, the Minnehaha falls has a secret which he gives towards the end of winter.

When ice begins to melt, the ice layer appear gaps where you can see something very interesting.





Minnehaha is a hanging waterfall, i.e. the falling water there is an air space. To get to this cave requires courage and effort, tourists still get to it.
