In Germany, launched the most powerful supercomputer in Europe

In the German town of jülich officially launched the most powerful in Europe computer JuQueen. It equals the performance of 5.9 petaflops or 5.9 thousand trillion operations per second.

Researchers located in the research center reported that the capacity of such systems "broken up" a little in recent months and only now reached his limit. To use the new system will, in particular, to study processes in the human brain, and for studying climate change.

Experts say that this machine is about 100 thousand times better than the most powerful modern computer.

The development of such devices has been the company IBM. Funded project means a huge scientific organizations of Germany — Helmholtz Centre. The exact amount is not known.

It should be noted that the creation of this kind of computer has become a matter of principle for leading technology States, as these devices are appreciated for help in solving the problems of industries of national interest — defense, energy, Finance and science. Modern technology even interested in business: oil and gas corporations are using them to find deposits, and stock brokers to automate electronic trading.

Computer centers often offer their power to scientists from neighboring research centers, institutions and companies are giving scientists incredible opportunities. They can share complex models and apply heavy duty computing means. Access flagship computing devices promises scientists new heights in various Sciences.
