Chinadiev Castle - St. Miklos is a place for lovers

The village of Chinadiyevo is located 12 km. from Mukachevo near the river Latorica. The first mention dates back to 1214, where it is referred to as St. Miklos Castle. This Hungarian name appears in documents before 1944. Later in 1264, King Istvan V donated the estate to Master Aladar, commissioner for pre-Galician princes. Chinadievsky Castle was built in 1450 by Baron Pereni. The famous Mukachevo woman Ilona Zrini in this castle in 1682 fell in love with the Hungarian count Imre Tekeli, he stood at the head of the rebels who fought against the Austrian monarchy.

The castle is also called the place of lovers. Artist Jozsef Bartosz, who now rents the castle and restored it, after the restoration married Ukrainian Tatiana. Once Jozsef had a strange dream, in a dream a woman with noble features addressed him, spoke of a wonderful castle that he must acquire, and she will help him in this from the other world. The artist realized that it was Ilona Zrini, and after visiting her grave, he decided to fulfill the vow given in a dream before the owner of the castle.
In the Castle of Love, more than one couple went under the crown. Since 2001, the new tenant has made a new roof for the castle, all the rooms were saved by his efforts from the rubble, repaired walls, glazed windows and inserted new doors. The restoration of St. Miklos Castle is supported by the Hungarian State Administration for the Protection of Art Monuments and the Laszlo Teleki Foundation.

In the premises of the castle there is an archaeological museum of Scythian and Celtic culture, books from the library of Count Schönborn, exhibitions, concerts of live music are held on the territory, there is an open art center. The walls of the castle, saturated with the historical past, remember the morale and romantically attract tourists, the castle awaits its visitors.
