The Israelis promise to print a car on a 3D printer
Israeli company Stratasys, which specializiruetsya on the production of materials for three dimensional printing and 3D-printers, has been actively involved in the project KOR EcoLogic. A couple of years they, together, are going to bring on public roads the car is completely printed on the printer. Jim KOR (Jim Kor), the first year has been developing his engineering career spans over 35 years and in the early 90-ies of XX century, he, among other things, engaged in the development of personal economical public transport (PRT). Including this was the starting point for the development of economical and light car.
The Urbee project started in 1996. Since there have been many studies, and in the middle of the first decade of the 2000s, engineers were able to touch the first clay prototype. It, in turn, scanned, brought to symmetry and removed all flaws. After he tested the aerodynamic properties, it was possible to contact the partners that are engaged in a three-dimensional printing. So, for the past field trials frame, began to prepare printed on 3D-printer, the body of the car.
Unlike modern production cars, the body of this machine is going just 40 parts. Printing is the method of floating simulation of ABS plastic – the same material used to make parts of LEGO bricks. Print everything from bumper, ending with the "glass".
