A simple device will help anyone to draw like a genius
Two adjunct professors, Pablo Garcia (Pablo Garcia) from the art Institute of Chicago and Golan Levin (Golan Levin) at Carnegie Mellon University, has created an interesting device that allows you to copy the surrounding objects with the precision of a brilliant artist.
The design of the NeoLucida at first glance quite simple – clamp for attaching to the table and flexible arm-"snake". At the end of the bracket mounted a small prism, it gave me the opportunity to see the image srisovyvanie object on the background sheet of paper or an electronic tablet. The weight of the new device is only 255 grams and can fit even in a handbag, the price is also quite affordable — $40.
Interestingly, the NeoLucida design enthusiasts inspired by the research of David Hockney. He who in 2001 wrote the book The Lost Techniques of the Old Masters (literally "the Lost technique of the old masters"). Hockney suggests that the most famous artists, whose paintings now sell for huge amounts of money, used for drawing different devices, similar in principle to operate the camera lucida, in particular a system of concave mirrors and the camera obscura.
