Using a smartphone, you can check vision

Scientists from the London school of tropical medicine and hygiene have altered the Android camera-smartphone to scan the eye.

Scientists have found the camera not the lens for panoramic photos, and a special eyepiece that increases the image.

The basis they took the Samsung Galaxy S III – it's a good fotometrica and power were the main criteria when choosing this model.

Smartphone-ophthalmologist, called Peek (Portable Eye Examination Kit) has already been tested on 5400 citizens of Kenya.

The advanced camera of the smartphone has provided the ability to scan the retina for the presence of cataract and the flash — to explore the fundus for more precise diagnosis.



The smartphone display is used to display characters of various sizes – this method will reveal blurred vision.
