How do you repair the ecosystem to your advantage?
There are several methods to prevent or reduce eutrophication, and each has its drawbacks. Laws that limit nutrients from industrial and agricultural activities, as well as wastewater, have naturally made the future brighter. But there is still plenty of phosphorus in the warehouses, which is still polluting the ecosystem, so it will be decades before improvements occur.
You can think of eco-engineering projects that involve, for example, the chemical fixation of nutrients in the sediment or the protection of naturally wetlands so that plants can absorb excess nutrients before they start to bloom.
It would be better to take and collect algae, so that we can help not only the ecosystem, but also ourselves. Algae quite quickly and efficiently convert the energy of the sun into a form in which we can easily use it. They store it in the form of lipids (some algae are 76% lipid), which can be converted into biodiesel and aviation fuel or used in cosmetics and pharmacology. Algae protein is an excellent basis for korm and food additives, and ethanol and methanol are obtained from carbohydrates.
Doing this effectively is not that easy. Despite the rapid development of the production of biofuels from algae, the collection of the latter still takes as much as 30% of the costs of the industry. One of the most popular methods - pneumatic flotation (PF), it is widely used for cleaning water - is considered very expensive on a large scale. But things can change.
