Glowing carousel in Dordrecht runs on children's play energy

The company Ecosistema Urbano introduced a children's carousel with LED lighting, which is charged with kinetic energy from the movement of people riding on it. This is part of the project of the Center for Visual Arts of the Netherlands Dordrecht, which was started to equip city streets with interesting interactive attractions. The carousel consists of a circle of seats at a low level for young passengers, and a variety of gymnastic swings for seniors, according to Inhabitat.

While riding, guests of the carousel generate kinetic energy, which is used to power the built-in light show. In the evening, this entertainment facility attracts even more visitors as it begins to glow. The more children played on the carousel during the day, the longer it will work in the evening. The battery is located under the carousel. The energy carousel was commissioned by the design bureau Carve from Amsterdam, which started the project in Dordrecht. 10 design companies from all over Europe have created objects for the new city square, which will turn it into a place for family fun. The Energy Carousel itself is considered as an educational object for children and adults interested in the problem of renewable energy.
