Korea unveils its first electric car

Korean automaker Kia announced the design of its first electric car Kia Soul EV. Future buyers will not have to wait very long - the appearance of a serial copy is already scheduled for the second half of this year. The presentation of the Kia Soul EV took place at the Geneva Motor Show. By external signs, it is almost impossible to distinguish an electric car from an ordinary gasoline version. If you quote the statement of the press service of Kia Motors, it becomes clear that “Soul EV is a front-wheel drive electric car with a battery of high-power lithium-ion polymer batteries.” The battery power is also indicated. It's 27 kWh. At the moment, this value is the best indicator.

When opening the hood of the crossover, you can see an electric motor, whose power is 110 horsepower. With it, you can accelerate in 12 seconds to 100 kilometers per hour. The speed limit is limited to 145 km / h, and the maximum range is, according to the manufacturer's tests, 200 km. This is done through capacious lithium-ion batteries, as well as the energy recovery system during braking.

In terms of innovation, several technologies have been announced for this car. For example, a four-mode braking energy recovery system and additional battery heating. Otherwise, all the usual functions will remain in place - ventilation and air conditioning, improved heating system, and will be able to make an individual microclimate for the driver's seat. It will be interesting to know what the headlight adjustment scheme is.

If we consider the situation in Russia, we can find out the following fact: Kia cars are popular among Russians. Increased demand is noted for models Kia Sportage and Kia Rio. But the number of electric vehicles in Russia is still minimal. One of the reasons for this is the lack of charging stations. There is a possibility that this model popularizes the class of electric cars.
