What is LED lighting

Advantages of LED:

Higher luminous efficacy.
The mechanical strength.
Long service life (5 years of continuous operation)
Safety (no heat and requires no high voltage)
Easily tolerate low temperatures.
Economy (ratio of brightness to energy consumption)
Durability (not spoiled on frequent changes of cycles on / off)
Environmentally friendly (do not contain phosphorus, mercury and emits no UV)

The disadvantages of LED:

The high cost (price of one lamp household use ~4-10 money)
The brightness in the process of operation gradually decreases.

For greater clarity, I've borrowed an infographic about Light Emitting Diode, which is described in more detail the advantages of LED.

In life you can see the LED lighting in traffic lights, automotive headlamps, backlighting of monitors, flash drives, running lines, and scoreboard.

Analysts from the Internets claim that if current trends in the development of LED technology and reduce the cost of production by 2013, led lighting will replace fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. Keep your fingers crossed.
