Walking path by the melting glacier
The Glacier Skywalk is a 450-metre walkway laid down a mountainside in one of Canada’s national parks. Its main element is the observation deck suspended above the abyss, overlooking the picturesque surroundings, as well as the Athabasca glacier located nearby, melting at a speed of 2-3 meters per year. “Our goal was to give people the opportunity to see this amazing landscape in a way that gives them food to think about changes in the environment,” said Jeremy Stargess, head of Sturgess Architecture, which worked on the project.
