Less than 60% of energy consumption thanks to green technologies
SERA Architects and Cutler Anderson Architect have completed a comprehensive renovation of an 18-story office building in downtown Portland, Oregon. Built in 1974, it needed to modernize its workspaces, facade and engineering systems, which have long since ceased to meet modern energy efficiency requirements. As a result of the work, the building acquired a new unique facade, which does not allow overheating of the interior, providing them with the necessary amount of natural lighting, and also provides a structure suitable for various plants. Solar panels with a total capacity of 180 kW and a rainwater collection system are installed on the roof. Along with a number of other improvements, it has reduced energy consumption by 60% and is eligible for LEED Platinum environmental certification.
