In London found stone age tools



    

New archaeological findings may be the most ancient of those which have ever done in the British capital.

In the southern part of London discovered tools made of silicon Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and bronze age, said Olchowska Kasia (Kasia Olchowska, senior archaeologist from the Museum of London archaeology.

In addition to silicon guns, in the area of future construction found the remains of a prehistoric 12-meter traps for fish and traces of fires. Findings were made in the course of survey works pre-construction: in this part of London will soon usher in a new U.S. Embassy. Earlier in the place of discovery of the guns was an island surrounded by marshes and the river. The island was big enough and dry, to be able to live there people, and the area is good hunting grounds.

The Parking of the stone age in London rare due to the fact that they are difficult to detect, and also because of the development, says Kasia Olchowska. "What we found may be the earliest archaeological materials from London, known today", – said the archaeologist.

According to her, the artifacts will be explored in detail to confirm their age. In particular, will be analysed form of guns, their sizes, the technique of manufacture. Findings also will be compared with artifacts from other sites.

Kasia Olchowska hoped that the study will allow to obtain more information about how looked the local landscape in the stone age.
