Trikelet - electric scooter last mile + video

In recent years, electric vehicles have been advancing on all fronts. “Conventional” electric cars and hybrids are improving, their sales are growing at an explosive pace. Light electric scooters scurry through the streets, electric bicycles attract the attention of hapless thieves, even electric skateboards do not cause passers-by either surprise or smiles.

Danish company Trikelet BV is going to expand the list of electric vehicles that have become familiar and announces the development of neither more nor less, “the world’s most compact folding electric car.”

Strictly speaking, the Trikelet three-wheeled prototype looks nothing like an electric car. Rather, it can be called an electric scooter, the characteristics and capabilities of which promise to make this vehicle popular as a last mile transport.

According to the developers, the current version of the prototype uses an electric motor with a capacity of 500-700 W, allowing to accelerate the Trikelet to a speed of 20 km / h. At the same time, the power reserve from one charge is 15 km, one kilowatt-hour of energy is enough to run up to 70 km at full load.

Significant advantages of electric scooter in compact size and lightness. With a weight of 12 kg, the dimensions in the unfolded state are 970x290x1250 (DhShV)mm. But the main trick is to have a smart folding mechanism.

The fact is not only that in the folded state, the scooter is much more compact, 570x290x320 mm, which allows you to transport it not only in the trunk of a passenger car, but also on the luggage shelf of a city train car. The laying mechanism hides the wheels inside so that dust, moisture and street mud do not soil the owner and other passengers of public transport.

Such a folding scooter would be useful to residents of the suburbs, who often come to the city office and have to leave the car in a remote parking lot. It is convenient to get to the nearest bus stop or directly to the place of work. If there is a need for some distance to walk, the scooter in the folded state can be rolled like a suitcase on wheels, using the steering wheel as a tow.

Currently, the Trikelet three-wheeled folding electric scooter is not yet available. According to the manufacturer, the prototype is being finalized and is at the testing stage for certification of the new product. The company is also looking for a sponsor to start production. The expected price announced on the website is about 1000-1500 euros.
