Solar at the home of two architects
A couple of American architects Buzz Yudell and Tina Beebe reacted to the construction of their own homes, as an opportunity to put into practice the principles of eco-architecture. The house, located in the city in California, has kept close to nature through landscape design, small garden and pool with terrace. On the roof of the house plants are planted to achieve the cooling effect, behind solar installation, consisting of solar panels and solar collectors.
Cells generate all the necessary electricity surpluses which are sold in the municipal network. Solar collectors heat water for hot water systems, swimming pools and for heating through floor heating when needed. Extensive glazing allows natural lighting direct or indirect sun rays.
Internal buffer zone of two floors serves to improve circulation of air by convection ventilation occurs without energy expenditure. Energy self-sufficient home of MRY architects now serves as a Studio, housing, and laboratories for further research on bioclimatic design.
