Mini-HPP – a step towards autonomous energy supply

Country and country construction is becoming increasingly large. Every owner of a country plot or cottage sooner or later faces the problem of electricity.

In Russia, there are still a huge number of remote settlements, country villages, where laying power grids is economically unprofitable.

For a long time, autonomous energy consumption was environmentally unsafe. For diesel generators, diesel fuel is needed, for gas generators, the main line along which gas passes, a gasoline generator is the most expensive way to generate electricity. These technologies have also polluted the environment.

Now the market offers the owner of real estate a large choice among alternative sources – these are solar panels, wind turbines and hydro generators. Autonomous systems have both advantages and disadvantages. The latter include the high cost of equipment and generators, their installation and maintenance is also expensive. Naturally, the equipment wears out, and it will have to be replaced more than once, but we must keep in mind that every year the efficiency and technical characteristics are getting better.

In an era of dwindling natural resources, investing in alternative energy sources makes sense. The cost of transferring your country house to autonomous power supply will seem high to you at first glance. After a couple of years, the owners of cottages and houses will be able to feel their independence from the pricing policy of housing and communal services and centralized networks. But officials in this matter will not be completely bypassed – to install a hydrogenerator on water bodies and rivers, it is necessary to obtain permission from local authorities. Under the law, it is possible to sell the surplus to individuals and other users.

If you still chose a hydrogenerator, you need to evaluate the geographical parameters of its installation. As a rule, mini-HPPs are localized in places where there is a free flow of rivers, changes in water levels. Hydrogenerators have the most efficient efficiency compared to other types of alternative energy sources. The most important factors when choosing hydrogenerators are the seasonality of the water level, water speed and its volume, and do not forget that some rivers freeze in winter.

Mini-HPPs are divided into 4 types: a water wheel, a garland of hydroelectric power plants, a Darje rotor and a propeller. Many landowners prefer to assemble homemade equipment instead of factory models. And indeed, with the observance of technology, except for the water wheel, all types can be obtained at home. The modern Russian market can offer several mini-HPPs, but the main market share is occupied by foreign equipment. When operating, be prepared to face a large amount of content in a foreign language. You may need to translate documents and instructions for using a hydrogenerator.
