Aurora and the Milky Way over Cape Nordkup

Aurora and the Milky Way over Cape Nordkup

Astrophotographer Thor Iven Mathiesen captured the magnificent panorama during his stay at one of the northernmost points of continental Europe.

Going on a trip to the north of Norway, photographer Tor Even Mathisen did not forget to look at the observation deck of Cape Nordkap – now a popular tourist area. Nordkap is a cape on Magerø Island in northern Norway, in the commune of Nordkap. Its height is 307 meters. An interesting geographical location makes it one of the northernmost points in Europe (on the list just behind the neighboring Cape Knivschellodden).

Cape Nordkup is part of a large granite rock, broken into three protrusions. The middle, largest ledge is the Nordkup. The upper part of the cape is flat, covered with rocky tundra with small lakes. At the Cape there is also an observation deck, where this magnificent picture was obtained.
