A Chinese scientist has proposed using graphene to create parachutes

A group of researchers from Zhejiang University (China) has developed a unique graphene aerogel. The new material is so light that it can be on the petals of the flower without breaking them.

One of the developers, Professor Gao Chao (Gao Chao) believes that a parachute made of graphene aerogel, can be the main means of rescue for passengers of aircraft. The sponge structure, developed by Chinese specialists, is made of lyophilized carbon and graphene oxide and is the lightest solid material in the world.

Professor Zhao said: “If an aircraft disintegrates in the air, such as when a missile hits, parachutes could give passengers some chance of survival.” So, for a 300-seat Boeing 777 - this is an additional 60 kg. The scientist added that the aerogel needs to be made stronger before being used for such a responsible mission.

I believe these technological limitations can be overcome. In addition, the auto invention is convinced that in the future graphene aerogel can be used to make clothes. According to him,

Some manufacturers have come to us to develop a new type of clothing with this technology.
