In the United States will be the first eco-town

The first green town in the United States is being built in North Carolina. The project is called Sonoma Mountain Village.

The city will accommodate 4,400 residents and provide 3,300 jobs. It is planned that this place will meet almost all the needs of residents of modern cities, and in walking distance from their place of residence. Every building and even a sewer grille and tree will be considered for compliance with the principles of energy efficiency and environmental safety.

To date, a number of companies have already opened chains of their stores here, and telecommunications giant Comcast has built a support center, which received a platinum certificate from the prestigious LEED system. 10,000 solar panels are installed on the roofs of already built buildings, which generate energy for commercial purposes and power 2,000 residential buildings. Construction of houses, as well as areas to house farmers' markets and organize public events will begin in the near future.

Sonoma Mountain Village is set to become the world’s fourth eco-city to be awarded the LEED Platinum Certificate, which is the highest environmental and energy efficiency rating for construction.
