In Sochi, developing infrastructure for electric cars
Environmental vehicles are being developed in Sochi. To date, seven electric refueling stations have been installed in the city.
Such interest in electric cars in the region began during the preparations for the 2014 Olympics. Solar panels are installed on the roofs of gas stations, and the stations themselves use economical LED lighting. All this allows the city to save on electricity by 45 thousand kW per year at each station. At the stations, among other things, fast charging of electric cars is available, which takes only 20 minutes.
However, the stations are not very popular due to the lack of a large number of electric vehicles in the region. At the moment, only one electric car is officially sold in Russia - Mitsubishi i-MiEV.
