“Green” technologies have also reached religion.

The first “green” mosque appeared in the Islamic world. It is located in Dubai and can accommodate 3,500 people.

The Khalifa al-Tajer Mosque occupies an area of almost 10 thousand square meters. It is built from environmentally friendly materials using the most modern energy-saving technologies. Thermal insulation systems reduce electricity consumption, and air conditioners with a reduced carbon footprint were chosen to cool the air. Outdoor lighting and water heating are provided by the energy generated by solar panels.

Tayeb al-Rais, secretary general of the Dubai Waqf Foundation, said similar projects will be implemented elsewhere in support of the emirate’s vision of sustainable development.

During Friday prayer on the opening day, the mosque was full.
