The properties of exoplanets can be determined by the catalog created by the graduate
Graduates of the University of Arizona have repeatedly delighted with bold ideas and amazing discoveries. So now, Natalie Hinkel has created a unique catalog, the largest existing, reflecting the stellar composition. It is very important for understanding the properties that stars have, as well as their possible connection with the orbiting planets. During the work, the author found that the composition of nearby stars can be very different, contrary to existing prior opinion.
To compile the catalog, it was necessary to compile data available in printed sources (a total of 84) for more than 3 thousand stars, located almost 500 light years from our Sun.
Separately, a group of stars similar to the Sun is distinguished: K-type, G (to which the Sun belongs) and F. Their properties are described, which, according to Natalie, will help to learn more about the development of stars of the local group. Also, the catalog will help to understand whether the number of elements in the star depends on the exoplanet that is part of it. In addition, the catalog will help to determine the dependence of the speed at which stars rotate on its chemical composition.
