Energy-efficient trolleybuses will be purchased for Moscow

In October, Moscow will announce a tender for the purchase of 20 trolleybuses running on batteries. Such transport is able to travel without wires up to 5 kilometers.

For these purposes, the authorities will allocate about 300 million rubles. Each such trolleybus will cost about 15 million rubles.

Battery-powered trolleybuses will be modern, low-floor machines adapted for wheelchair users, equipped with air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

Trolleybuses will be put on routes, including Pyatnitskaya Street, Pokrovka and Maroseyka, where the elimination of contact networks was provided for by reconstruction projects.

As explained by the source in “Mosgortrans”, the next batch of new trolleybuses, most likely, will be able to travel without recharging a distance of 30 km. The interior of such a machine will have to be increased: the battery of the required power weighs about 100 kg.
