“Not to think” – a true “positive” thinking
Talk about the right mindset go a very long time, and the “positive thinking” is increasing day by day. Many specialists urge citizens to think "well and good", promising all conceivable benefits: money, love, success, healing, and other miracles. Trusting citizens are trying, often as much as 3 days, and nothing received, going to look for something new-other. And rightly so – after all, the so-called "experts" do not revealed the secret (because they don't know about it, but now "to teach others – not necessarily to be able to", as the famous character). So, the doctrine of thinking.
The Circle Of Zen.
"One evening at the Providence Zen center, Seung Sahn Sleep Sa It delivered the following Dharma speech:
"What is Zen? Zen is understanding yourself. What is "I"? Explain Zen with the help of the circle. On this lap note 5 points: 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°. 360° are the same point as 0°.
We start from 0° to 90°. This is the region of thought and affection. Thinking is desire, desire is suffering. Everything is divided into opposites: good and evil, beautiful and ugly, mine and yours. I like it, I don't like it. I am trying to achieve happiness and avoid suffering. This is why life is suffering and suffering is life.
From 90° to 180° is the realm of consciousness or karmic, "I", the area of attachment to name and form. Here, the attachment to thinking. Before birth you was 0, now 1 you, in the future you will die and again become 0. Therefore, 0 = 1 and 1 = 0. All things here are one and the same. Because they are one and the same substance. All things have name and form, but their names and forms come from emptiness and return to emptiness. It's still thinking.
180° thinking is not at all. It is the experience of true emptiness, "before-thinking" i.e. there are no words, no speech. Therefore, there are no mountains, no rivers, no God, no Buddha, nothing at all. There's only ... (at this point, the Sleep Sa It hit the table).
Next is an area up to 270°, the area of magic and miracles. Here is full freedom without any restrictions in space and time. It's called living thinking. I can turn your body into a body of a snake. I can ride a cloud to the Western heaven. I can walk on water. If I want life, I have life; if I want death, I have death. In this area, a statue can cry, the soil is not dark and not bright, the tree has no roots, the valley has no echo.
If you opt for 180°, you become attached to emptiness. If you do stop at 270°, you become attached to freedom. At the point 360° all things are what they are, the truth — "simple as this". "As is" means there is no attachment to anything whatsoever. This point is where the point 0°. We arrived back where we started. The difference is that 0° is bound thinking, while 360° is a mindset not bound.
For example. You are driving with bound thinking, your mind will be somewhere else, and you will pass red light. Not tied thinking means that your mind is all the time clear. When you are driving, don't you think you just are driving. Therefore, the truth — "simple as this". Red light means stop, green light means go. This intuitive action.
Intuitive action means to act without desires and attachments. My mind is like a clean mirror that reflects everything as it is. Red comes and the mirror is red; yellow comes and the mirror becomes yellow. Bodhisattva means that I have no desire for myself, my actions for all people. 0° is small "I". 90° is a karmic "I". 180° is a hollow "I". 270 degrees is the "I" of liberty. 360° is a large "I". Big "I" is infinite time, infinite space. Therefore, there is no life and no death. I just want to save all people. If people are happy, I'm happy when people are sad, I sad.
Zen is the achievement of 360°. When you reach 360°, all the degrees on the circle disappear. A circle is just a training tool Zen. It does not exist in reality. We use it to simplify your thinking and to check understanding of the student.
Then Sleep Sa Him picked up the book and pencil the book and pencil is the same or different? At zero degrees they are different. 90°, since all things are one, the book is a pencil, the pencil is a book. 180° thinking all clipped, so there are neither words nor speech. The answer is only (hit on the table.) 270° perfect freedom, so a good answer is: "the Book is angry, and the pencil laughs". Finally, at 360° — the truth "just like this". Spring comes, grass grows by itself. Inside light, outside dark. Three times three equals nine. Is still what it is. The answer is: "the book is a Book, a pencil is a pencil".
Therefore, at each point the answer will be different. What would be the right answer? Do you understand? Now here is the answer: all five answers are correct. Why?
Based on the above, to many of us it would be nice to get at least to 180, to the level of emptiness, and if there will be able to stick around and “think” positive thoughts, it will probably come true. Of course, there are a certain number of people into the area spontaneously, not knowing how to. They have embodied their hopes and thoughts. They should believe and enter rest in the delusion that if you think positively, everything will be OK. Before to think positively, to learn how not to think, at least nine seconds.
