Kyocera is a smartphone with a screen that works like a solar panel

Japanese electronics manufacturer Kyocera is not the first year to develop custom solutions for mobile devices. The novelty, which was shown at the exhibition Mobile World Congress, is able to charge from solar energy thanks to the screen, which works both as a display and as a solar battery.

The phone uses a development from Sunpartner called Wysips Crystal. This is a transparent photovoltaic display. The screen power is 5 mW / cm2, and its thickness is 0.12 mm. Unfortunately, this power is not enough to fully charge the voracious gadget in daylight. However, to extend the work of the smartphone in places where light and no outlets, it is quite realistic. Many modern manufacturers have repeatedly tried to incorporate solar panels into the lid of smartphones, but in this case they would have to be kept in an extremely uncomfortable position for charging - the rear panel up.

Kyocera has other interesting developments: a secure Brigadier smartphone, a dual-screen Echo (something similar to YotaPhone) and a flexible device with an OLED display, which is still in the prototype stage. published
