Scientific Ecopark in Florida
University Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers (FL) is building a dedicated science Park of 100 hectares is dedicated to sustainability and renewable energy. It is calculated that with this project FGCU will challenge well-known research center "Triangle" in North Carolina.
At the University hope that the research Park will become a lure for new companies operating in these areas, and help to create a kind of ecological Silicon valley.
The first building has been laid, it will be the Institute of new technologies (Emergent Technologies Institute) testing laboratories and research center in the field of renewable energy, green projects and sustainable agriculture. The building is designed by the architectural firm Leo A Daly should be certified by LEED.
Estimated economic impact for the state from creation of a science Park in the next 10 years will be at least $ 700 million.published
