At the Geneva motor show is a famous manufacturer of tires for cars Goodyear has demonstrated an intriguing concept tire that can charge the battery of the electric vehicle during the drive.
As you know, one of the biggest problems for the owner of the electric vehicle is the so-called "range anxiety", in other words, the limited capacity of the battery. Model BH03 tyres developed by Goodyear as time solves this problem as it will contribute to extending the range of electric vehicle mileage almost indefinitely.
The basic principle of the "work" tires BH03 is to convert the heat generated by deformation and friction of the tyre on the road surface, into electrical energy, which is then used to charge the battery of the electric vehicle.
While the manufacturer provides vague information about the structure of the new tyre, saying only that it consists of layers of thermo-piezoelectric materials, which interact with each other in a certain way. In addition, bus BH03 equipped with ultra-black textured sections, which are able to absorb heat and sunlight. It is expected that sunlight will heat up the tires on parked electric car, thereby increasing the amount of heat that can be converted into electrical energy.
Goodyear also presented a second model of tyres with three pipes under the protector. Internal pump that regulates the pressure of air in the chamber of the tire depending on road conditions.
