Volvo is developing robots garbage collectors

To call the garbage collector just disgraceful would be an understatement — in fact, this work includes an early schedule, the monotony and, of course, mountains of stinking garbage. It is the perfect work for a robot, don't you think? And Volvo agree with you.

The Swedish automaker announced the start of the program ROAR (Autonomous Robotic Waste disposal System) in conjunction with two local universities and engaged in processing, storage and disposal of household waste company Renova. In the framework of this project is developing robots that can collect waste, while the people will remain in the relative comfort of the cab of the truck and monitor their work.

Work on the ROAR has just begun (with a high probability end product won't be similar to conceptual art from the header of the article), but this program has really great potential. The first working tests of the system will be held in June 2016, although in real life you will not see robots digging in the trash at your house, so soon: ROAR will be of practical use only when the robots will be able to securely empty the trash in the real world.published
