Lutz Pathfinder — an unmanned mini electric cars

In Milton Keynes (Buckinghamshire, UK), the public presented a small electric car Lutz Pathfinder, which in the future will have to carry people on the walkways.

Lutz Pathfinder is able to carry two people and small cargo. The battery pack provides a power reserve of approximately 60 kilometers. Safety reasons top speed is limited to 24 kilometers per hour.

The main peculiarity of mini-machines should be the autopilot that will blaze the route, relying on information panoramic cameras, laser sensors, radar, receiver navigation system GPS and other systems.

The development of a Lutz Pathfinder lasted approximately a year and a half. Soon the team Mobile Robotics Group of Oxford University will install on a test electric equipment system of Autonomous control.

Initially, the test program will involve three electric car. And the cabin will be the operator, ready in case of an emergency situation to take it over. In the future the machine must move independently.

In the future, on the streets of British cities are expected to leave tens Lutz Pathfinder. It is assumed that robotic cars will carry the elderly and those citizens who do not want to walk. For robotaxi you can use a special mobile app.published
