The first Lithium-Sulfur batteries is scheduled to start installing a scooter in China

The company-developer of Li-S battery from OXIS Energy of the UK jointly by the Danish developer of software for the battery management Lithium Balance announced plans to begin production of its batteries for installation on two-wheeled vehicles. The main and only market is China, where electroscooter has already gained huge popularity. The company will jointly design and build an electric skateboard for the Chinese market.

Preparing the prototype has a battery capacity of 1.2 kWh using 10Ah cells Oxis Long Life. It weighs 60% less than the same with lead-acid batteries, but the travel range on a single charge significantly more.

The next step will be the creation in the fourth quarter of 2016 the second prototype using a modernized cell Long Life (up to 20Ah), which will increase the capacity of the battery at a relatively low weight. "This project represents a technological breakthrough for our company. In collaboration with Oxis Energy, we have implemented a special BMS control algorithms that optimize the performance of Li-S batteries that cannot be achieved using standard control algorithms, BMS Li-Ion battery ".The existing Li-S batteries this company have a comparatively small life cycle, which is only about two times more than lead acid, but as many times less than current Li-Ion. It is 1500 recharges. On conviction, the company in the next two years it needs to be upgraded to 2500 cycles until, as the battery capacity drops to 80%.
