"Artek" children's camp has opened in the Crimea June 16, 1925. On the first shift came 80 pioneers from Moscow, Ivanovo-Voznesensk and Crimea. The very next year, Artek was visited by the first foreign delegation - pioneers from Germany. At first the boys lived in canvas tents. Later on the shore of light plywood built houses.
