User reddit ZaHuBa discovered and donёs to the public scene of fantastic comedy of 1969 (according to iMDB --th 1970) titled "I Killed Einstein, Gentlemen." In the scene the characters use the device, it is extremely similar to the selfie-stick, which also is able to give complete picture.
