Important parable of the logic and meaning of life

In the mid 20s a young Jew went to the famous New York rabbi and said he wanted to study the Talmud.
- You know Aramaic? - I asked the rabbi.
- No.
- A Hebrew?
- No.
- And a child taught the Torah?
- No, the rabbi. But do not worry. I graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Berkeley and has just defended his thesis on the logic in the philosophy of Socrates. Now, to fill blank spots in my knowledge, I want to teach the Talmud.
- You're not ready to teach the Talmud - the rabbi said. - This is a profound book ever written by human beings. But if you insist, I'll give you a test for logic: Right - I'll deal with you.
The young man agreed, and the rabbi continued.
- Two men come down a chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other - with a dirty. Who among them will wash?
The young philosopher's eyes on the forehead climbed.
- This is a test on the logic ?!
The rabbi nodded.
- Well, of course, the one with the dirty face!
- Wrong. Think logically: the one with the dirty face, look at that one person is clean, and decides that his face was too clean. And those who have a clean face, look at that one face is dirty, he decides that he, too, got dirty, wash and go.
- Artfully conceived! - I admired guest. - Come on, Rabbi, give me one more test!
- Well, young man. Two men come down the chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other - with a dirty. Who among them will wash?
- But we have seen - the one with the clean face!
- Wrong. Both will go to wash. Think logically: one with a clean face, look at the one who has a dirty face, and decides that his face was too dirty. And the one who has a dirty face, will see that the second went to wash, will understand that he has a dirty face, and also go to wash.
- I had not thought of! It is amazing - I made a logical error! Rabbi, let another test!
- Okay. Two men come down the chimney. One comes out with a clean face and the other - with a dirty. Who among them will wash?
- Well ... Both go wash.
- Wrong. Wash will not make one of them. Think logically: the one with the dirty face, look at that one person is clean, and will not wash. And those who have a clean face will see that the one with the dirty face, is not going to wash, he realizes that his face is clean, too, and will not go to wash.
The young man was in despair.
- Well, believe me, I can teach Talmud! Ask anything else!
- Okay. Two men go down a chimney ...
- Oh my God! None of them will not go to wash !!!
- Wrong. Now you're convinced that the logic of Socrates enough knowledge to teach the Talmud? Tell me, how can there be such that the two men went down the same pipe and one of them smeared face, and the other - not ?! Do not you understand? The whole question - nonsense, and if you spend a life, answering pointless questions, all of your answers will also be meaningless!
