Once the owner of a racing team «Tyrrell» Ken Tyrrell turned its constructor Derek Gardner proposed to create a totally new and unique car: the idea was to reduce the diameter of the front wheels and hide them behind the fairing, while reducing the drag of the car. In the design there are numerous problems associated with the use of four steering wheels. This complexity of the suspension and the braking system, and even the fact that the driver did not see the front wheels, which prevented accurate cornering. The latter problem was solved in an original - in the cockpit cut through a special window for viewing.





First Tyrrell P34 debuted successfully at Grand Prix in 1976, to modernize the car next season. In parallel, work on the six-wheeled car and held opponents - March, Williams and Ferrari. In their case, it ended the experimental samples that have never participated in the competition.
