The tsunami of 2011 in Japan created a huge sand dunes on the ocean floor

Earthquake and tsunami of 2011 produced unimaginable destruction on the Pacific coast of Japan. However, new research in the field of marine geology have shown that this is not all the consequences. At the bottom of the ocean by water, which first struck the shore, and then drained back into the ocean, a large underwater sand dunes formed.

Research oceanographer Kazuhisa Goto showed that the tsunami has created dunes up to 20 meters long and up to 2 m in height. This is the first direct evidence that a tsunami could affect the underwater geography and even in the marine ecosystems.
