The Dutch artist has invented a strange way to create colorful tiles - it makes her urine snails. Liske Schroeder came up with the concept after it realized that in her garden snails like to eat paper and cardboard. She noticed that the snails are not just eating the paper - stained their allocation in the same color as the body metabolizes not snail colored pigments.



Schroeder then gathered around a thousand snails, built a testing laboratory and began to feed their paper. As expected, the snails isolated colored urine, which the artist was placed in a specially designed portable machine, where the material is mixed, compressed, and the output is a tile for flooring thickness of approximately five millimeters.





Of course, the tile does not consist of urine. Production of 1 m² tiles takes about an hour, and it contains only six grams of excrement snails - that is the amount produced nine snails for five days.
