Artificial tree with leaves of solar panels

Finnish engineers from Technical Research Centre VTT printed on 3D-printer "tree" with leaves of organic solar cells. Who knows, maybe in the future, these trees will be more useful than conventional trees in urban environments. For example, they can give energy street lights, produce oxygen for the city streets. Can be planted whole forest of these trees!

Photovoltaic trees generate electricity in the street and indoors, and store it in the trunk. There are placed batteries. A small bush with such leaves enough to charge a mobile phone or a simple LED lighting.

With flexible and thin organic graphic panels (thickness of 0, 2 mm), designers can realize the most fantastic projects. This not only trees flexible sheet, but also other functional objects.

All elements of the Finnish wood printed on 3D-printer: the plastic trunk and branches, and organic solar cells. The printer prints up to 100 meters per minute film with such elements.

In this case, the area of each solar cell is 0, 0144 m 2 sup>, including the connections and the necessary contacts.

200 leaves generate current 3, 2 A / 10, 4 watts on a nice sunny day in the street, taking up only 1 m 2 sup> territory.

Print these trees also takes quite a bit of material.

In addition to organic elements, Finnish researchers are experimenting with solar cells from perovskite, which have already demonstrated efficiency of 0, 19.
