Andrew Clemens (1857-1894) was an artist of Debyuka, Iowa, but spent most of his life in the near McGregor. At the age of five years, Clemens contracted encephalitis. The disease has made him totally deaf and dumb little.
Let's look at his work ...
16 photos + video.
In 13 years, Clemens began experimenting with sand, collecting colored sands of the mountainous region of Iowa. He made special tools made of wood and hickory fishing hooks, with the help of which he laid out the sand intricate patterns. To preserve the integrity of their work Clemens did not use glue, relying only on the pressure densely packed sand. After the work was completed, Clemens was tightly sealed jar.
Clemens had a remarkable ability to decompose the image into small pieces and collect the crumbs of sand, similar to the pixels in the digital photos. He is believed to have created hundreds of bottles in his lifetime, but to date few have survived.
