Lantern Festival in Seoul

On the eve of the birthday of the Buddha in Seoul launched the famous Festival lotus lanterns, which will last until May 11.





Every year thousands of tourists visit this colorful celebration, which begins with the ceremony of lighting the lamps on the square in front of Seoul City Hall.
The most striking event of the festive program is considered to be an evening parade of lights, which is traditionally arranged in the area of ​​Jongno. Thousands of colorful processions demonstrate how huge platform and a small flashlight in the form of a lotus, animals, fruits, etc.

This year the action was carried out in the memory of the victims of the ship "Sevola", which sank on April 16. The death toll was more than 150 people, the same amount missing. On board the ferry were 476 passengers, mostly high school students.
