Peregrine on rails





At the Moscow railway station St. Petersburg hosted a presentation of the high-speed train "Sapsan". The event was attended by Governor Valentina Matvienko, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexander Zhukov and President of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin. The train, designed and built by Siemens AG, will run on the lines of the Moscow-St Petersburg and the Moscow-Nizhny Novgorod. When speed of 250 to 350 kilometers per hour, it will overcome the distance between the two capitals in just 3 hours and 45 minutes. The name of the train was in honor of one of the fastest birds in the world - the steppe peregrine falcon.
